JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of the Job-
Strategic environmental planning: Decide the strategies for West Bokaro Division based on proposed expansions, changes, downstream developments, township and other infrastructure development and work out planning for its environmental requirements.
Statutory Clearances and Compliance: Obtaining all required statutory clearances i.e. Environmental Clearance, Consents & Authorizations, Water Permissions. Submission of reports, returns and fulfilling all necessary obligations to regulatory authorities as and when required.
Environment Management: Implementation of environmental mitigation measures as per plan including Solid Waste Management and E-waste Management projects.
Laboratory Management: Planning, Coordination and Implementation of all Environmental Laboratory related activities like NABL accreditation, Environmental Monitoring plan preparation & execution, report preparations etc.
Environment Monitoring: Monitoring of air, water, noise and other parameters to measure the effectiveness of mitigation measures.
External Stakeholder Engagement: Liaison with statutory authorities and other concerned agencies.
Sustainability Management: Co-ordination and management of various sustainability issues related to environment.
Climate change initiative: Climate change (CO2) action plan and monitoring. Identify the various Climate Change Risks and Opportunities and develop the Risk Management levers for Manganese mines.
Bio-diversity initiative: Enhancing Biodiversity in the region by implementing Bio-diversity Management Plans (BMPs) and monitoring.
Environmental Projects: Implementation and monitoring the measures to conserve natural resources and community-related environmental measures.
Risk Management: Undertake the risk analysis of changed requirements for West Bokaro Division & work out responses to the same.
ISO Standards: Implementation of IMS provisions throughout the division.
Reporting and communication: Report preparation and communication for sustainability, climate change and other matters with JSR and HO as well as internally.
Awareness and Training: Organise awareness sessions and training on issues related to environment.
Overall Responsibilities-
1. Decide the strategies for West Bokaro Division based on proposed expansions, changes, downstream developments, township and other infrastructure development and work out planning for its environmental requirements.
2. Obtaining all required statutory clearances like Environmental Clearance, Consents, Authorizations, water permissions etc. in coordination with other departments and by liaisoning with statutory authorities and other concerned agencies.
3. Plan, Execution, Monitoring and Report submission regarding the compliance of all the statutory conditions related the environment.
4. Drive Sustainability Management, Climate Change, Bio-diversity Initiatives at West Bokaro Division with collaboration with other departments, central team and external area experts.
5. Undertake the risk analysis of changed requirements for West Bokaro Division & work out responses to the same.
6. Implementation of ISO 14001: EMS provisions throughout the Division and IMS within the department.
7. Report preparation and communication for sustainability, climate change and other matters with JSR and HO as well as internally.
8. Support to be provided to all departments of the Division in environment related matter.
9. Organise awareness sessions and training on issues related to environment.
Incumbent should have working experience in relevant field (Steel, Chemical, Power sector, experience in handling all environment related affairs and experience in Mining and Industry Sectors in driving climate change initiatives and environmental sustainability management is desirable)
Technical Competencies
1. Statutes related to environment.
2. Process of EC, EIA EMP etc. preparation and approval.
